Portable Eco Toilet for Camping and Outdoor Adventures in the Netherlands

The Netherlands — A Nation of Outdoor Enthusiasts

The Netherlands has one of Europe's most active outdoor cultures. Despite its flat terrain, the Dutch are passionate cyclists, campers, and water sports enthusiasts — and the country's extensive network of cycle routes, nature reserves, and waterways makes it a fantastic destination for outdoor adventures.

With a strong national commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, the Netherlands is also a natural fit for PlopEco's eco-friendly approach to outdoor sanitation.

Where a Portable Eco Toilet Makes Sense in the Netherlands

• 🚴 Long-distance cycling routes — the Netherlands has over 35,000km of dedicated cycle paths. On long tours through rural areas, facilities can be sparse.
• ⛵ Sailing and water sports — the IJsselmeer, Frisian Lakes, and Zeeland waterways are popular for sailing, kayaking, and houseboat holidays where onboard facilities may be limited.
• 🎪 Festivals — the Netherlands hosts some of Europe's largest outdoor festivals. A portable toilet system is a clean, private alternative to overloaded festival facilities.
• 🏕️ Camping in nature reserves — the Hoge Veluwe, De Biesbosch, and the Wadden Sea islands offer camping in protected natural areas where waste management is critical.
• 🌿 The Wadden Sea islands — Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, and Ameland are popular for cycling and nature tourism, with limited facilities in remote areas.
